Handcrafted Wood · Made to Order
Every piece begins as a single slab. Carved, shaped, and finished by hand — built to outlast generations.

Solid Walnut · Hand-Carved Apron
A dining table built for ceremony. The apron is carved in continuous botanical relief — vines, leaves, and blossoms that wrap all four sides without interruption. The top is bookmatched figured walnut, hand-oiled to a satin finish.

Live-Edge Walnut · Blackened Steel Legs
A live-edge walnut slab suspended on hand-forged blackened steel hairpin legs. The bark edge is preserved and stabilized. No two are alike — each slab is selected for its figuring and character.

White Oak · Geometric Relief Carving
A floating shelf that earns its place on the wall. The face is carved in repeating geometric botanical tiles — a pattern drawn from 16th-century woodblock printing. Solid white oak, natural finish.

Every chisel mark is intentional.
01
We source figured hardwoods from sustainable mills. Every slab is inspected for grain, figuring, and structural integrity before it enters the shop.
02
Carving patterns are drawn by hand on paper, then transferred directly to the wood. No CNC. Every line is a decision.
03
Using traditional gouges and chisels, our carvers work the relief by hand. A single dining table apron takes 60–80 hours of carving time.
04
We use hand-rubbed oil and wax finishes that feed the wood and age beautifully. No lacquer. No film. Just wood and oil.
About the Studio
"We don't make furniture. We make the thing you'll still have in forty years."
Wood & Steel was founded on a single conviction: that the objects we live with should be worth keeping. Not because they are expensive, but because they were made by someone who cared — who spent the hours, who made the decisions, who signed their name to the work.
Every commission is a collaboration. We work directly with clients from the first sketch to the final installation. No middlemen. No showroom. No catalogue. Just the conversation between what you need and what we can build.
Our studio is in the American South. Our materials come from sustainable sources. Our methods are old. Our standards are not.

Custom Commissions
Every piece we make is a commission. There is no catalogue, no inventory, no stock. You tell us what you need — we tell you what is possible. Then we build it.
